I can’t believe that I finally finished my sister’s Christmas 2008/Birthday 2009 scarf!!! I remember sitting on the sofa, looking at the tiny ball of yarn that I had left to finish the scarf, still in disbelief that I was finally going to bind off. I thought this scarf would never end. I even took my time to properly block the scarf, using these instructions I found at TECHknitting (love this blog, so resourceful!).  Don’t I look so cozy in it?
There is my patient little cat, Apple, making sure I’m pinning things properly. She’s such a good supervisor.
It doesn’t usually take me 18 months to finish a scarf, but while all those cables look beautiful, there were a pain and a bore after a few rows. And once I showed my sister what she was eventually getting for Christmas or her birthday, I felt obligated to stick to the pattern and finish it out. But let me tell you, NEVER AGAIN will I make this scarf!!! This is also the first wool scarf I’ve made for her. I gave her a HUGE lecture on why she should never put this in a washer or dryer. If this thing ever turns up felted, I will be very angry and may have to start interviewing for a new sister.
I’m just saying… this was a lot of work!

that is my worst fear! something I labor over getting tossed into the washer one careless evening. I shudder to even think about it. That’s why my sisters are getting knits made of wool-acrylic blends.:P

YES!! I worry that one of my nieces or nephews will toss it into the washer not knowing it doesn’t go there!

I made a pair of gloves for my husband last year and he felted them!!! Although, that was partially my fault for not giving him the same lecture I gave my sister, but NOW he knows better.
